As new autocrat Boris ascends to sovereignty, his entourage stages a madcap concert, during which a raven, a poet, a folk choir, and saints and sinners—living and dead—all come to life. In this bold work from Dmitry Krymov (hailed by The New York Times as “one of the world’s finest theatermakers”), Alexander Pushkin’s Boris Godunov is adapted (and subverted) into a contemporary metaphor about Russia, its rulers, its values, its myths, and its fate.

See Boris before the opening of Krymov’s production of The Cherry Orchard at Philadelphia’s Wilma Theater this April. BMFI members may receive 25% off tickets to this show. Please contact for details.
