“We were working through the plague.” Following the death of his partner during the AIDS epidemic, choreographer-dancer-director Bill T. Jones created the landmark ballet D-Man in the Waters to channel his (and his company’s) grief, fury, and resilience. This kaleidoscopic documentary chronicles the creation and legacy of the now-canonical piece, while following a group of contemporary dancers reinterpreting it for the present day.
