Mascis, Dinosaur Jr.’s brand of noisy post-punk earned the trio a devoted following and paved the way for the grunge/alt rock movement, despite furious infighting that frequently left the members on non-speaking terms. Drawing on archival footage and surprisingly forthcoming interviews with the notoriously reticent band, Freakscene chronicles a trailblazing American rock group.
