Reviews
Starring Robert De Niro, Harvey Keitel, Amy Robinson

Charlie (Harvey Keitel) is a loyal soldier in his uncle’s crime family, Catholic values notwithstanding. He hopes that advancing in the ranks will lead him out of a dead-end life in New York’s Little Italy, but his out-of-control pal Johnny Boy (Robert De Niro, in his first collaboration with Scorsese) threatens to drag him down. Gritty as hell and bristling with electric energy, Mean Streets began Scorsese’s relationship with the gangster genre and marked his first truly great movie.
