Fired due to his homosexuality and AIDS diagnosis, a Philadelphia attorney (Tom Hanks) finds an unlikely ally in Joe Miller (Denzel Washington), a lawyer with his own prejudices to confront. Featuring iconic music by Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young, Philadelphia was the first mainstream Hollywood movie to give serious consideration to the AIDS epidemic.
