In 18th-century France, painter Marianne is commissioned to create a wedding portrait for free-spirited aristocrat Héloïse. As the artist strives to capture her subject, a deep emotional and erotic bond develops between the two women. Céline Sciamma’s romance was voted as the 30th greatest film of all time in the 2022 Sight & Sound critics’ poll.
