“Ziggy played guitar…” This dazzling concert film from D.A. Pennebaker (Monterey Pop, Don’t Look Back) documents David Bowie’s legendary 1973 performance at London’s Hammersmith Odeon Theatre, during which Bowie would stun the audience by declaring that it would be “the last show that we’ll ever do.” (Fortunately, it was only his Ziggy Stardust persona that was coming to an end.) Featuring electrifying performances of classics like “Moonage Daydream,” “Changes,” and “Space Oddity” (plus covers of The Rolling Stones and The Velvet Underground), Ziggy Stardust immortalizes an iconic moment in Bowie history and captures glam rock mania at its pinnacle.
