Tenth-grade savant Max Fischer (Jason Schwartzman) doesn’t worry about his grades. He’s too busy with extracurricular activities, like staging his Vietnam War-themed school play, Heaven and Hell. On the verge of losing his scholarship, he finds an ally in disaffected tycoon/Rushmore parent Herman Blume (Bill Murray). But their friendship becomes a bitter rivalry when they both fall for Rushmore’s new first-grade teacher (Olivia Williams). "You'll find a pair of safety glasses and some earplugs underneath your seat. Please feel free to use them."
Shown in conjunction with the film course The Empathy and Ecstasy of Wes Anderson, this screening will be introduced by the course's instructor, Lisa DeNight.
