In the 1860s, a British school teacher (Kelli O'Hara) is brought to Bangkok by the King of Siam (Tony and Oscar nominee Ken Watanabe) to tutor his many wives and children, only to strike up a tempestuous romance with the monarch. With its classic Rodgers and Hammerstein score, including "Whistle a Happy Tune," "Getting to Know You," and "Shall We Dance," The King and I is a testament to the lavish heritage of gloriously romantic musical theatre. Broadcast from London's iconic Palladium, this production's original Broadway run earned Tonys for O'Hara and supporting actress Ruthie Ann Miles.
