Starring Edmond O’Brien, Frank Lovejoy, William Talman

Newly restored! No good deed goes unpunished. Two fisherman stop for a hitchhiker (William Talman) who quickly reveals himself as an escaped convict on a killing spree. Bearing a loaded gun and an eye that never closes, their sadistic passenger takes his captives on a hellish road trip through the Mexican desert. Renowned as the only classic film noir directed by a woman, Lupino’s thriller is as hard edged as anything the genre produced.

Shown in conjunction with the film course Femme Auteur: The Films of Ida Lupino, this screening will be introduced by the course’s instructor, Maurizio Giammarco, Ph.D.
