Gentle Giant: Yasujirô Ozu

Regarded as one of the medium's absolute masters, Japanese director Yasujirô Ozu developed a quietly rigorous style all his own. Focused on domestic life, family relationships, and the passage of time, Ozu's poetic but powerful "slice of life" cinema cuts to the quick of the human experience.

Shown in conjunction with the film course Ozu and the Crucible of Modernity, each screening will be introduced by the course's instructor, Paul Wright, Ph.D.
