Reviews
Starring Bruno S., Eva Mattes, Clemens Scheitz

A troubled street musician (Bruno S.), his sex-worker girlfriend, and an elderly neighbor flee Berlin for a new life in the prairie town of Railroad Flats, Wisconsin, only to find their new home as surreal and alienating as the one they left. Among Werner Herzog’s most compassionate and accessible works, Stroszek was hailed by Roger Ebert as “a comedy, a tragedy, a bitter satire…a strange and unforgettable masterpiece.”

This screening will be presented in conjunction with the film course “Lessons of Darkness”: Werner Herzog’s Absurdist Studies in the Human Condition, taught by Paul Wright, Ph.D. Seating for screening-only attendees will begin at 7:00 pm.
