Planned Giving

You don't have to be a movie star to leave a cinematic legacy.

There are a number of ways to participate in BMFI's planned giving program while fulfilling your personal charitable goals. Below are brief descriptions of the most popular planned giving options. BMFI will be happy to work with you to determine the best fit for your financial and estate planning.

If you have already included BMFI in your will or estate plans, we hope you will let us know so that we can acknowledge your commitment properly. If you prefer that your plans remain private, we thank you for your lasting generosity.

Bequests

Adding a simple bequest to your will is an easy way to contribute to the future success of BMFI.

Sample bequest language:
“I bequeath _____% of my residuary estate (or $ _____) to the Bryn Mawr Film Institute (BMFI), a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable cultural organization, located in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, for its ongoing film, education, and outreach programs. Federal Tax I.D. number: 04-3682610.”

Retirement Plan Assets

You can designate BMFI as the beneficiary of your IRA, 401(k), or 403(b) retirement plans, in whole or in part, during your lifetime or upon your passing.

Life Insurance Gifts

Designating BMFI as owner and irrevocable beneficiary of a fully paid life insurance policy means you can take a charitable income tax deduction for the policy’s terminal reserve value (approximately equal to its replacement value). Or, you might think about taking out a new policy benefiting BMFI and receive tax benefits with each premium paid.

How Will Your Gift Be Used?

You may make your gift as an:

  • Unrestricted Bequest

Or specify that your gift be used to support BMFI’s:

  • Capital Fund
  • Education Programs
  • Endowment
  • Theater Operations

Ask your financial advisor about the federal estate tax and state and inheritance tax benefits of a charitable bequest, and how you can best achieve your philanthropic goals.

We welcome the opportunity to provide you with individual assistance and information, in confidence and without obligation. For more informations on making a planned gift to BMFI, please contact Susan Ethridge, Donor Engagement Manager, 610.527.4008 x103.
