Presented with live original music composed and performed by world-renowned klezmer violinist Alicia Svigals and celebrated silent film pianist Donald Sosin. In this silent gem, a rabbi’s son leaves his shtetl to become an actor in 1860s Vienna, where he struggles to reconcile his heritage and his place in the secular world.
The film will be followed by a conversation with the musicians. This program is made possible by the support of the Sunrise Foundation for Education and Arts and the Haverford Yiddish Culture Festival.
