See Hear Feel Film – Call for Volunteers

July 12, 2023

Job Description

For over fifteen years, BMFI has run See ● Hear ● Feel ● Film (SHFF), an arts education program designed to instill third graders with a foundation in visual literacy. Using short films from around the world, SHFF helps students become conscientious viewers and impassioned storytellers in a world increasingly crowded with screens and moving images. The continued success of this program would not be possible without the help of our dedicated volunteers.

Bryn Mawr Film Institute (BMFI) is a nonprofit, member-supported motion picture theater and film education center located in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, in the western suburbs of Philadelphia. BMFI is dedicated to promoting shared experiences that entertain, engage, and educate audiences through a diverse range of independent-minded films, a full curriculum of courses, and an extensive program of special events. BMFI builds community through film culture, while maintaining strong connections to its historic venue’s cinematic past.

We’re looking for education-minded individuals interested in volunteering for the SHFF program during the fall season. You will work with students, leading group activities during school field trips to BMFI on select weekday mornings. You do not need to be available for all the school visits, but we ask that you commit to at least three SHFF sessions. We hope to host many school trips, so volunteers will have plenty of flexibility in determining their schedule.

Volunteer training will take place on Wednesday, September 13, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pmThis training is mandatory for all new volunteers. To learn more about SHFF, please visit the SHFF program page. Please note that volunteers will be required to undergo a PA Child Abuse History Clearance check.

If you are interested in volunteering for SHFF, please email Jill Malcolm at In your email, please include your name, email address, phone number, and confirmation that you can attend the volunteer training at BMFI on Wednesday, September 13. You will receive an e-mail reply with instructions for completing the required PA clearance online.
