Job Description

OVERVIEW

Bryn Mawr Film Institute seeks a teaching assistant for the 2025 Summer Filmmaking Workshop. The workshop runs from June 23 to July 31, Mondays – Thursdays, 10:00 am – 3:00 pm.

The assistant will support the workshop instructor in leading a group of high school students through all stages of the filmmaking process– writing a script, scouting locations, shooting, editing, etc.– culminating in the completion of a short film. This job, like the job of a filmmaker, will be multidisciplinary and vary depending on the situation. The assistant will be part teaching assistant, part co-producer, part camp counselor.

Bryn Mawr Film Institute (BMFI) is a nonprofit, member-supported motion picture theater and film education center located in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, in the western suburbs of Philadelphia. BMFI is dedicated to promoting shared experiences that entertain, engage, and educate audiences through a diverse range of independent-minded films, a full curriculum of courses, and an extensive program of special events. BMFI builds community through film culture, while maintaining strong connections to its historic venue’s cinematic past. 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants may be college students or recent graduates with experience in film or media production. Familiarity with Adobe Premiere and DSLR is a plus, as is teaching or leadership experience. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and access to a car for the duration of the workshop. A small stipend is available.
