Summer, 2020. As the tiny hamlet of Eddington, NM, shelters in place, the old-fashioned sheriff (Joaquin Phoenix) launches a campaign to unseat the town’s progressive mayor (Pedro Pascal), pitching the community into a social media-fueled frenzy of outrage, paranoia, and general lunacy. Leaving no hot-button issue untouched, this gonzo social satire from director Ari Aster (Hereditary, Midsommar) offers a delirious and darkly funny portrait of contemporary American madness.
