To finance his dream of opening an opera house in the Peruvian jungle, a would-be rubber baron attempts to exploit an inaccessible reserve by hauling a steamboat over a mountain. No special effects here! Werner Herzog actually dragged a 320-ton ship up a slope…a move nearly as mad as casting maniacal lunatic Klaus Kinski as his lead.
