Centennial Soiree: Commemorative Video Instructions

August 14, 2026

Thank you for being part of this.

On October 1, 1926, the Seville Theatre lit up Lancaster Avenue for the first time. One hundred years later, we’re celebrating that milestone with the Centennial Soirée and we want your voice in it.

We’re creating a short commemorative video for the evening: a fast-paced, funny, emotional love letter to movies and the people who love them. It will play in front of 300 of BMFI’s closest and biggest supporters on the night, and live on as part of our centennial story long after.

You’re someone whose perspective matters to us. We’d be honored to have you in it.

Here’s everything you need to know.

WHAT WE’RE ASKING FOR

We have six questions below. You don’t need to answer all of them! Answer as many as you have something to say about. A great response to one question is more valuable than feeling pressure to answer all six.

Aim for about 30 to 60 seconds per answer, but shorter is fine and longer is welcome. There are no wrong answers and no pressure to be polished. Genuine is better than perfect.

THE QUESTIONS

  1. What’s your first (or favorite) memory of being in a movie theater?
  2. Do you have a favorite BMFI memory? What brought you here, and what did you see?(Skip this one if you haven’t visited us, no worries at all.)
  3. Has a movie ever hit differently because you were watching it in a theater full of people?
  4. BMFI has been part of this community for a hundred years. What does that mean to you?
  5. Is there a movie you keep going back to or can’t stop recommending to people?
  6. What are your pro-tips for someone going to the cinema for the first time?

HOW TO FILM IT

You can use your phone, laptop, or any camera you have and is easiest.

These are only suggestions. Your contribution matters far more than a technically perfect video:
