Hitchcock Grab Bag
(NR) USA/Canada – 1 hr 35 min – 35mm
1953 · d. Alfred Hitchcock   Reviews
Starring Montgomery Clift, Anne Baxter, Karl Malden

Bound by the seal of the confessional, a devout Catholic priest in Quebec City (Montgomery Clift) wrestles with the knowledge of a robbery gone wrong committed by his caretaker—a murderous secret he is forbidden to reveal even as suspicions implicate the tortured cleric in the heinous crime. Co-starring Anne Baxter and Karl Malden, Hitchcock based this tense film noir on a 1902 French play by Paul Anthelme called Nos deux consciences (Our Two Consciences).

Shown in conjunction with a Cinema Classics Seminar, I Confess will be introduced by the seminar's instructor, Lisa DeNight.
